Position Summary

This is a full-time, permanent clerical support position.

The Child Care Aide is under close supervision under the direction of the Assistant Director, Lead Teacher and Child Care Specialist.

Work performed in the implementation of program goals and classroom objectives, and performing related work as required for children six (6) weeks to five (5) years old.

Required Education and Work Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.

One (1) year of childcare experience.

Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or higher..

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

Knowledge of methods, materials and program operations for children six (6) weeks to five (5) years.

Knowledge of recreational activities associated with creative play.

Knowledge of general psychological and biological need of children.

Ability to make minor decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Ability to react quickly and calmly in stressful situations.

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the public, children, and other employees.

Primary Tasks and Responsibilities

Assists in directing and directs activities of children in program.

Assists with supervision of small and large groups of children.

Assists children with self-help skills.

Works with individual children on specific tasks.

Attends all related training, seminars and parent related activities, conducts or assists with parent conferences.

Assists with the preparation and presentation of educational materials.

Helps in planning and developing each day’s activities.

Records, evaluates, assesses and updates regularly class attendance, etc.

Helps with serving meals and snacks.

May perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
